As we had such an amazing time with our Dutch colleagues during the annual excursion at the sunken lands of Saeftinghe and the Hedwigepolder on June 26, 2015 the soil of the month June has to be this beautiful profile of a Tidalic Fluvisol at the Sieperdaschor.
The Dutch and Belgian Soil Science Societies organized a joint excursion in the framework of the International Year of Soils 2015. We visited the sunken lands of Saeftinghe and the Hedwigepolder, in the Estuary of the Westerschelde, where we discussed the implications of land-use changes on nature and agriculture. Our main guide for the day was be Dr. Jan van Mourik.
